As the connection is weakened, the link between the parts of the brain for reasoning, the bodily sensation and fear centers are strengthened. So if the person experiences upsetting or scary sensations, it will be easier for him to look at them in a rational way.
Studies on meditation show that compassion and empathy are higher in people who meditate on a regular basis. Part of the reason comes from the activity of the amygdala, the brain part which processes emotional stimuli. When a person meditates, such part of the brain shows decreased activity.
Research claims that those who practice mindfulness meditation can adjust the brain wave which screens out distractions and more quickly increase their productivity than people who don’t meditate. Such ability to ignore distractions explains a person’s ability to rapidly remember and integrate new facts.
